An Empirical Analysis on Impacts of Eastern China's Technological Innovation on Western China's Industrial Structure

Through empirical analysis, it can be found that, from 1996 to 2006, eastern China's technological innovation has a diffusion effect on development of western China's overall economic as well as its three major industries. At the same time though, results also show that, during this period, eastern China's technological innovation has a convergence effect on constitution of western primary industry, but has a diffusion effect on its secondary and the tertiary industry. The reason for that is excessive loss of human resources in primary industry of western region. Thus, it is necessary for western region to actively absorb achievements of technological innovation in eastern economy center, strengthen their abilities to innovate imitatively or independently, feasibly improve its technology capabilities, and retain their human resources to free itself from reliance on outside world.
