Pulse compression in plasma: Generation of femtosecond pulses without CPA

摘要
Laser pulses can be efficiently compressed to femto-second duration when a smaller-frequency short pulse collides with high frequency long pulse in a tenuous plasma, absorbing most of its energy. The mechanism of the short pulse amplification is the nonlinear superradiance.
