Thermodynamics of yttrium and oxygen in molten zirconium

摘要
A chemical equilibration technique was employed to measure the thermodynamic properties of yttrium and oxygen in molten zirconium. The surface temperature of molten zirconium was measured by a two-color pyrometer and controlled manually within ±2 K. The yttrium and oxygen contents of molten zirconium equilibrated with solid Y2O3 at 2153 and 2173 K were determined. The oxygen content decreased with increasing yttrium content. The solubility product increased with increasing temperature.
