摘要
The collision between inevitable demographic growth and evitable but impending natural capital devastation, as regards climate in particular, will be lethal for many living organisms, humans included. However the range of knowledge and instruments, from scientific to legal and economic, available to face the threats, either right now or in the near future, is astounding. This is no reason for complacency: in order to make use of them at a scale and a pace matching the challenges, a revolution in institutions and behaviors is needed. Despite its weaknesses, the Paris Climate Agreement is a significant step on the way; it provides a framework, a set of references and a springboard for all sorts of desirable initiatives.
