摘要
The present paper investigates semantic relations which connect meanings of constituents of selected English noun-noun compounds and adjective-noun phrasal nouns. The questions considered here include, among others, the preference for the subject-type or object-type reading of the left-hand constituent (when the right-hand component is a deverbal noun) and the possibility of replacing the noun-noun construction by the adjective-noun construction in the case of particular compound types.
