A novel Coordination polymer, [{Er-4(mu(3)-OH)(4) (bpdc)(4)(H2O)}(2)] (H2O)(16.5) (1) was obtained by hydrothermal reaction. The cubane-like [Er-4(mu(3)-OH)(4)](8+) as building block, it was further assembled into two-dimensional network structure through the linkage of 2,2'-bipyridine-3,3'-dicarboxylate (bpdc) with four different coordination modes.
