摘要
Location awareness is vital for many existing and emerging applications, especially in the context of 5G and beyond 5G (B5G) networks. However, current solutions generally fail to provide location information with the accuracy necessary for many location-based services and efficient resource management. For example, satellite navigation systems are hampered in complex environments such as urban canyons and indoor conditions, while 4G and Wi-Fi networks fail to provide the level of accuracy required by several emerging applications. On the other hand, precise localization of user equipment is often a required feature for many existing services, as well as a mandatory requirement for future ones that will be deployed over B5G networks.
