摘要
The aim of this paper is to make a qualitative analysis that can help prevail and reoccur risks that hamper the growth of universities in Botswana. It is practically imperative to acknowledge that in universities, there are risks that arise and need to be addressed. The strategies to manage risks typically include transferring the risk to another party, avoiding the risk, reducing the negative effect or probability of the risk, or even accepting some or all of the potential or actual consequences of a particular risk. Universities in Botswana are prone to risks which include failing to comply with authorities, finances, legal risks as well as inadequate enrollment of students. Unavailability of guidelines and policies as observed, contribute to escalation of most risks. The study shows that it is better to be pro-active than reactive to issues of risks as there is more to sacrifice. The researcher will make contributions to literature regarding managing of risks in universities. The qualitative approach was implored in understanding the study as well as observation and random interviews made in previous encounter with universities management and staff.
