The Uddevalla bridge, located on the Swedish west coast close to the town Uddevalla, is part of the motorway E6 between Oslo and Gothenburg. Construction of the bridge started in mid 1997 and completion on schedule was May 2000. With a total length of 1712 in it is the longest motorway bridge in Sweden. The main span is 414 m. This paper gives a description of the bridge, the early design considerations and the construction methods. Emphasis has been put on the cable-stayed portion of the bridge.
