MORTALITY BY CAUSES OF DEATH IN THE CZECH REPUBLIC

The historical changes in the demographic behaviour of the population as a result of the demographic revolution were associated with a significant reduction in fertility and mortality. Changes in the age structure of the population not only led to changes in the intensity of mortality, but also in the structure of mortality by cause of death. Diseases of the circulatory system are among the most frequent causes of death in the Czech Republic since the second half of the 20th century. Mortality changes in the 1990s are explained by changes in health care and a number of political, economic and social changes. The standardized mortality rate was used to assess the long-term development of mortality. The upcoming article deals with longterm development in the intensity of mortality according to the most frequent causes of death in the Czech Republic by sex and age and subsequently focuses on the connection with the given decrease or increase in mortality due to the given causes. Mortality issues are very important due to actual demographic trends.
