Development typology of demographic growth in the Czech Republic

This paper presents an attempt at the creation of a new typology of Czech municipalities from the viewpoint of their demographic development. The main aim of the analysis is to identify groups of municipalities with similar development of the net migration and the size structure of municipalities. This should prove the significance of their change in association with the economic and political conditions in particular stages of the societal development. With respect to availability of statistical data, time series of numbers of inhabitants and particular components of its population change in the period of 1971-2008 were used. An appropriate typology of municipalities regarding human potential development can serve as a clue for a detailed examination and planning of the regional development processes.
