PRIMARY PRE-SERVICE TEACHERS' PERCEPTIONS OF THEIR EXPERIENCES OF STORYTELLING IN PRIMARY EDUCATION

摘要
This paper introduces an innovative teaching and learning experience called Storytelling workshops at schools carried out in the context of the subject Promoting reading in English as a foreign language in Primary Education in the Degree in Primary Education at the University of Burgos (Spain). This innovative teaching and learning experience is based on using storytelling as an effective approach to foreign language learning in Primary Education. In the context of this subject, pre-service teachers plan storytelling workshops at the University, implement them at schools and reflect on their learning experiences. The main purpose of this study is to present the pre-service teachers' perceptions concerning the effects of the storytelling workshops in Primary classrooms. A total of 35 fourth-year student teachers participated in the study. Data were collected in the form of an anonymous feedback. The study reveals that the interrelationship between the University practices and the schools is a real, challenging and motivating learning experience for the student teachers with effective teacher training implications.
