In Hungary the foundations and associations have had a big role for a long time in complimenting the funds of the health institutes, and giving a hand to different social groups. The national health non-profit organizations can be divided into two major groups: one supports the institutes and organizations they are usually foundations, the other gives a hand to individuals they are usually associations. The latest data from 2005 show, that 6% percent of the non-profit organizations are of health category, but their place and role in the health system is not too stable. For the sake of the future functioning of the health-type non-profit organizations, there is a strong need for a transparent system of aims and means, which should be based on professional, political and social agreement. This could guarantee for the organizations a long term stable working environment, a stable application and sponsorship system, and enough money and human resources to accomplish their main goals.
