Dynamics of electorate's social and political orientations during financial and economic crisis

Dynamics of electorate's social and political orientations during financial and economic: crisis (by Vladimir Mokryiy) is based on analyses of the quarterly surveys among the Samara oblast population carried out on a regular basis after 1993. A typology of regional electorate groups is construed and changing political preferences is elucidated both before and after August 17, 1998 financial turmoil. It is estimated that in December 1999 Russian State Duma elections only 3 to 4 political parties or their blocks might succeed, and, as a result, new Duma composition will be more to the left then the previous one. Some suggestions are formulated in conclusion related to building up a political union of the Russian Federation regions.
