Formation of high-mountain talus slopes related to debris-flow activity in the High Tatra Mountains

摘要：
Debris-flow activity has been studied on talus slopes of the High Tatra Mountains since 1975. Both geomorphological experiments on slopes and sedimentological studies on lake sediments make it possible to distinguish calm periods and extreme event periods. The Little Ice Age was characterized by talus slope instability due to debris flows. During the last 15 years rapid reworking of sediments is explained by rainfalls of higher magnitude being more frequent during this period. (C) 1997 by John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
