摘要：
The demand for durable and cost effective building materials is continuously rising in India from various subsectors of construction to the pace of industrialization. This follows the housing shortage in India estimated (1991) at about 30 million units. After a brief of outline of the above situation, the paper enlights briefly the history of development of ceramic glazed wall tile in India, present technology needs, demand pattern, cost and prices of flooring materials in India, and expert data.
