摘要
Various types of risk are defined in the paper, in particular risk of natural disasters and man kind impact into water environment. Features and characteristics of risk of hydrological and meteorological extreme events as well as technical failure caused by natural disasters are presented there. Characteristics of hydrological risk are discussed taking into consideration floods and droughts as well as synergic events caused by severe weather conditions. Risk assessment is a foundation of risk management that the primary goal is to ensure safety of lives and property of human beings.
