摘要
The importance of the paper resides in highlighting the correlation between general intelligence and motoric intelligence specific to combat sports, in a group of subjects who do not practice performance sports. The research was performed in three steps, whereby each step included well-determined tasks and aims. For accomplishing the study, we have issued a work hypothesis according to which the students featuring a high general intelligence can also prove superior motoric abilities within the process of motor skills development. The psychological assessment of the cognitive abilities was based on the scores obtained by applying the RAVEN test; a test measuring the G factor, the level of mental ability, more precisely; while the motoric abilities were evaluated by using technical elements of taekwondo. The significance level calculated for the correlation between the reported results for our groups of subjects derived from determining the Pearson correlation coefficient by use of the IBM SPSS STATISTIC VERSION 19 software. The scores revealed a correlation at a statistically significant level (r=0,76; n=40; p<0,001). (C) 2013 The Authors. Published by Elsevier Ltd.
