摘要
During the past three decades, led by the popular Cox (1972) proportional hazard model. various semiparametric models in clinical trials and survival analysis have emerged in increasing generality. From statistical modeling and methodological perspectives, these developments a[,pear to be significant. Nevertheless. from actual application point of view. often, there are roadblocks. This picture may differ from the hypothesis testing to risk assessment and estimation contexts. Keeping the scope of applicability in mind. an appraisal of the use and abuse of semiparametrics in medical studies is made with due emphasis on allied parametrics as well as nonparametrics.
