摘要
Competition is inextricably linked with every economic process taking place in market economy. The complexity of functioning of a modem banking sector, also Polish one, makes the competition processes taking place within the sector dynamic and seek new tools. Furthermore, the theoretical research trends regarding competition undergo transformation, which is the result of changing conditions of external and internal surrounding of the bank. The competition of Polish banking system grew after the accession of Poland in the EE, as well as a result of growing stability of banks and appearance of foreign investors. The growth of competition of banks is faster due to the dynamic development of e-banking which plays a very important role in distribution of banking services. The use of such instruments and bank and credit cards in the Polish banking system is popular. Polish banks offer all kinds bank cards; there is a dynamic growth of the number of card and transactions made with the use of the cards. Credit activity of the banks is still growing, especially in respect of housing credits for individual clients. The demand for credit is created through the growth of variety of credits as well as by less strict requirements of the borrowers, which may negatively influence not only the quality of the services provided by the bank but also lower the financial results of the banks.
