Research Universities do not Forget Education-Oriented Obligation

China nowadays would like to propel high-quality academic research in domestic universities, thus ordinary universities are gradually drafting their targets to be research universities. At this time, thousands of young scholars are sent by scholarships to top universities overseas, and university executors are actively aiming to have high standard for projects and funding. Consequently, scientific research is placed in a crucial position, and undergraduate education is easy to be taken lightly, or be put in a relatively minor position. However, we believe that Education should always be the groundwork of the universities, and the research universities should emphasize interactive impellents between research and education, treating education quality as their main achievement which can contribute to our society. In this paper, problems and situations in quo are pointed out and discussed for the transformation of the ordinary domestic university toward the research university, and some suggestions are humbly proposed for high-education professions.
