Educational information ecology is a research field of the process and the regular pattern of interaction between education information, people, education and environment. After analyzing the disadvantage of the current distance education system, this paper put forward the causes of modem distance education ecosystem. Then we elaborated on the ecological subject and the ecological environment composed of modem distance education system, as well as energy conversion and material recycling between them. Finally, we summarize the main features of the modem distance education ecosystem, including the renewable teaching resources; the customizable teaching strategies; the collaborative learning process. The modem distance education ecosystem is a self-organizing, adaptive system. The system bases on people-centered teaching philosophy, which achieve the harmonious development of teachers and students, because of the self-adjustment and adaptation of structure and function according to the teaching purpose of the structure and function of self-adjust and adapt.
