Validation of a spanish version of Hurlbert Index of Sexual Fantasy: A measure of attitude toward sexual fantasies

This study presents a Spanish version of the Hurlbert Index of Sexual Fantasy (HISF), which measures the attitudes toward sexual fantasies. This instrument's factor structure, reliability and validity were examined in a Spanish sample of 250 individuals (110 men and 140 women) with a 30-40 yearold stocking. Principal axis factor analysis with oblique rotation was performed and, considering the results, a second-order factor analysis was conducted. Two factors comprising negatively worded item (negative disposition toward sexual fantasies; alpha = 0.83) and positively worded items (positive disposition toward sexual fantasies; alpha = 0.85) were obtained. Validation hypothesis only found support for the positive disposition toward sexual fantasies factor. These results indicated that the Spanish version of HISF, comprising 10 item, seems a reliable, valid and useful measure.
