The medical evaluation after exposure of a person to conducted electrical weapons (CEW) and its related injuries and potential relevance in the mechanism of death is not limited to the morphological assessment alone, but also includes the intensive analysis of police investigations, the evaluation of witness testimonies and medical history. Particularly in the case of relevant proximity between exposure and death, the effect of the transmitted current impulses in context with the usually complex operational situation and medical history of the injured party must be assessed. Detailed knowledge of the concrete as well as abstract mode of action, effectiveness and risks of CEW is indispensable.
