Development of live load model for long span bridges

摘要
This paper deals with the development of live load model for long span bridges using Weigh-In-Motion (WIM) system and a comparison with the current live load model from various -countries. WIM system was installed and has been operated for more than ten months to collect real traffic data. The live load model for long span bridges are developed using traffic jam model. It is based on simulation of the traffic jam and lining up of all trucks with bumper-to-bumper. Then series of trucks with minimum headway distance are loaded based on the influence line. To compare developed model and other live load model, two long span bridges are selected, In-Cheon Bridge (cable stayed bridge) and Lee Shun Shin Grand Bridge (suspension bridge) in Korea. Load effects of main members such as cable, pylon and stiffening girder are calculated and compared with various live load models in the world, such as AASHTO LRFD, Korean Bridge Design Code and Japanese Code from Honshu-Shikoku Bridge Authority.
