摘要
To summarize this editorial, I would suggest that the tools for system integration and data and information are now available from several external companies in most domains of the industry. It is also possible to purchase the basic cools and build your own. However, the ability to integrate information is not sufficient to maximize the potential value of all the information generated. In addition, the maximum value of the information generated within the industry currently resides in the heads of the individuals. This is not. in my opinion, the most satisfactory situation. Other industries have already faced this situation and are applying new IT technology to build corporate knowledge bares rather than corporate databases. It is up to the individual companies, IT departments and computer literate groups to go our and assess the potential value of this new technology with an open mind. The most important position for such new technology is at the interface between discovery and development, because at this step large quantities of data and information are available; any decision relies on the appropriate interpretation of a complex matrix of properties. An inappropriate interpretation at this stage can result in significant cost to the organization.
