摘要
More and more attention is paid in Poland on fire safety. Subsequent amendments to legal acts in this field are making ever greater demands both in terms of building design and layout of rooms, as well as in the field of human behaviour in the event of a fire, including appropriate evacuation procedures. In particular, for large, especially public utility buildings, preparation of 'fire safety guide" is required, which, among other things, should determine "conditions and organization of the evacuation of people and means of checking them" and should include plans showing the "conditions of evacuation, indicating emergency directions and exits". Especially for buildings with a complex system of communication spaces determination of optimal routes may not be a trivial task. Therefore, the paper proposes the use of GIS tools for determining optimal escape routes. For many years, advanced GIS software has functionality that allows for performing such activities. In this case, however, a relatively new technology of network analysis in three dimensional space would apply. This will allow for a reduction of at least some subjective factors during the preparation of Fire Safety Guides and will increase their credibility.
