摘要
Slender structures such as tall buildings and chimneys can be modeled as cantilevers with bending and shear deformation. A flexibility approach for damage identification of cantilever-type structures by utilizing the data of dynamic modes is proposed in this paper. An important advantage of the approach is that it only requires a small number of modes, so that it is convenient for practical application. The effectiveness of the approach is verified by numerical and experimental examples. (C) 1999 Published by Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
