摘要
Measurement of icing load on a high voltage power conductor and wind turbine is a crucial deliverable to optimize the performance of power production. Cognitive Decision Making was required to understand the complexity of the problem in order to design and develop a prototype rotary atmospheric icing sensor which utilizes stepping motor to avoid closed loop complexity in the system. This sensor was manufactured using the rapid prototyping technical facility at HiN to measure icing load and icing rate. The aim of this paper is to describe the decision making process to design for manufacturability of this new sensor which uses rotary platform. This first prototype will be further utilized to optimize final geometry for installation of electronic and electromechanical components along with other design constrains.
