Evolution of research in environmental education and sustainable development

This study aimed to analyze the characteristics of publications on environmental education and sustainable development, in the Web of Science database, and identify the topics most relevant to these topics investigated. It is characterized as a quantitative research of bibliometric nature. As a result, it found 4,411 publications. There was a growth in scientific production over the last decade, especially. It is noticed that the theme, throughout the publications seen in this study, behaves in an interdisciplinary way relating to other diverse fields of knowledge. As already advocated in literature, environmental education and sustainability play an important role in society, in the construction of knowledge, in development proposals, whether social or economic, solutions that best suit the global problems we face.
