SPATIAL SPILLOVER EFFECTS OF ENVIRONMENTAL REGULATION ON HAZE POLLUTION IN CHINA

摘要
This paper aims to study the spatial spillover of haze pollution in China using the exploratory spatial data analysis. To this end, the static and dynamic spatial panel data model was used to empirically study the impact of environmental regulation on haze pollution. The results show that the haze pollution in China shows the characteristics of significant spatial spillover; the level of environmental regulation has a significant impact on the haze pollution both locally and in the surrounding areas. In addition, for most of China's regions, their economic development is positively correlated with haze pollution; the rapid increase of population is still an important factor affecting China's haze pollution; the effect of technological progress on reducing haze pollution is not significant. The research findings provide certain policy support for the control of haze pollution.
