The sprawl of the construction land in an out-of-order state not only brings loss and low capital efficiency, but also holdbacks the sustainable development of society and economy. This paper analysis the spatio-temporal characters of the sprawl in 1990s. Basing on this, the driving force and external factor of the spreading out are discussed. Finally, three aspects Of Countermeasures are put forward aiming to control the unreasoning expansion of the construction land: conceiving an "economic barrier", developing a prompting system, reforming the land allocation and use system.
