摘要
This paper discusses some of the issues that need to be considered when choosing a constitutive model to represent soil behaviour. In particular the implications of the shape of the yield and plastic potential surfaces in the deviatoric plane are examined, as is the importance of accurately modelling the small strain stiffness behaviour. Examples are given to illustrate the effects in real boundary value problems.
