Three-Dimensional Modelling of Hydrodynamics in Lake Constance

摘要
The dynamic flow patterns in Lake Constance can be simulated adequately and with high time resolution with the hydrodynamic model ELCOM, if it is coupled with a wind model for the regional wind distribution. With data from the high discharges during the extreme rain event in August 2005, it is shown that the inflow of the Rhine and its sediment load can be simulated with an adequate refinement of the spatial grid. Also, river inflows into the shallow areas of the lake and density currents due to differential cooling in shallow areas can be simulated adequately.
