摘要
Our previous studies showed that Helicobacter pylori (Hp) enhances glandular stomach carcinogenesis of Mongolian gerbils (MGs) treated with chemical carcinogens. To determine the effects of Hp eradication on the experimental carcinogenesis, a study of the glandular stomach of MGs was performed.; Male MGs were treated with N-methyl-N-nitrosourea (MNU) followed by inoculation with Hp, or infected with Hp followed by MNU administration. Hp was eradicated in part of the infected animals. The incidence of macroscopic tumor development in infected animals was significantly higher than in animals without Hp inoculation. Moreover, the incidence was significantly suppressed by the eradication procedure. Hp eradication suppressed the enhancing effects of glandular stomach tumor development in MGs treated with MNU. This implies that Hp eradication may be useful for chemoprevention of stomach cancer development.
