摘要
Th rough-thickness residual stress profiles have been measured in a commercially produced linerboard of 0.54 mm thickness and 440 g/m(2) basis weight. A new measurement technique, diffusion-assisted stress relaxation, was developed for this purpose. The residual stresses in the machine direction of the linerboard showed a parabolic profile and ranged from -1 to +1 MPa, being compressive at the board surface and tensile within its core. Local variation of the stress profile can be attributed to local nonuniformity of the the linerboard morphology.
