Keynote Speech: Extending the domain of application for multiphase technology

In today's harsh economic climate for the oil and gas industry, one of the key questions is how new technology can contribute to cost reduction. In this speech attention is paid to how multiphase flow and fluid phenomena knowledge gained over the years can be combined with subsea processing and multiphase equipment to provide more cost effective field development solutions, Specific examples of recent multiphase flow equipment deployment projects are presented, together with some cases where new and emerging solutions are utilised to provide new and promising concepts. It is emphasised that subsea processing will in many cases simplify multiphase flow and flow assurance, but still several key challenges remain to be resolved.
