Monitoring of active business in the municipalities of the Czech Republic

The contribution uses actual data of the Czech Statistical Office concerning the number of active business units in 2017 up to the level of individual municipalities of the Czech Republic. The main objective is to monitor changes in the concentration of effective entrepreneurship in individual regions of the Czech Republic in the years 2010 - 2017 at the level of individual districts and monitoring of active entrepreneurship to the level of individual municipalities on the basis of actual data from 2017. Active entrepreneurship is characterized by the fact that the entrepreneur shows activity from the point of view of tax administration or social security and for this purpose the internal data of the Czech Statistical Office were used. The data are not normally published at the level of districts or municipalities. The analysis and monitoring of the number of active entrepreneurial units in the districts are subsequently evaluated in relation to the unemployment rate in 2017 and, quite recently, in this contribution the correlation between the number of active entrepreneurs per 1,000 inhabitants and the size of the municipalities of the Czech Republic is assessed. This correlation was not statistically proved at this level. The criteria analyzed open up questions to further discussions on the business environment and balanced business environment, which are crucial in creating economic policy and promoting active business.
