Voltage regulation is one of the major power quality issues in Low voltage distribution grids. With strict voltage regulation grid code in place, the usage of voltage-controlled DSTATCOM has increased. This paper deals with modelling and simulation of Fuzzy-Particle Swarm Optimization (Fuzzy-PSO) based control of DSTATCOM to mitigate power quality issues in Low voltage distribution grids. The proposed control is a temporary solution for voltage regulation in order to meet grid code. The model consists of two stages, power stage and control stage. The concept Fuzzy-PSO is used to operate the DSATCOM in order to minimize distribution of unnecessary reactive power compensation. Simulation results establish the voltage regulation features of Fuzzy-PSO algorithm for DSTATCOM for both linear and nonlinear loads. The results are obtained from the MATLAB/SIMULINK environment.
