摘要
There are certain computational electromagnetics (CEM) problems which require higher numerical precision. Multiple-precision-arithmetic (MPA) libraries are software tools for dealing with these problems using modern computing architectures. The purpose of this article is to present the CEM problems that have been solved with the use of multiple-precision arithmetic and to point out some open problems requiring multiple-precision arithmetic for investigations. It paper presents examples of applications of multiple-precision arithmetic that have been reported in the literature. Multiple-precision arithmetic can be considered a new approach for tackling open problems in electromagnetics that remain unsolved due to the difficulty of the computations.
