EMPLOYEE'S ENGAGEMENT AND CHANGE VARIABLES IN ROMANIAN ORGANIZATIONS

Purpose - The purpose of this article is to examine the relationship between employee's engagement and change variables intensity of stress, emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, physical symptoms, personal satisfaction, self-esteem, personal efficacy and optimism - in a sample of male and female employees from different Romanian organizations. Design/methodology/approach - Data were collected from 307 respondents, using anonymously completed questionnaires, between January March 2011. Findings - The following results were observed. First, the organizational engagement is negative correlated with intensity stress, emotional exhaustion, depersonalization and physical symptoms. Second, the organizational engagement is positive correlated with personal satisfaction, personal efficacy and optimism. Self-esteem variable have no importance on employee's engagement. Research limitation/implication - Questions of causality cannot be addressed since data were collected at only one point in time. Practical implication - Romanian organization can increase levels of organizational engagement among theire employees. Originality/value - This study contributes to our understanding of organizational engagement among employees from Romanian organizations.
