摘要：
Spatial index is stored in the medium of space objects to describe the physical location information, which can quickly find the space to find data objects by optimizing data retrieval operation, it is used to improve the efficiency of the system of data recording is an important means of access. There are four main categories of space index, R tree family index, the grid index], quadtree indexes [8], and KDB Tree. We are focused on reviewing spatial data indexes and their applications used in GIS in this paper.
