''Design warehouse'': a ''data warehouse'' for computer aided design

First, this paper describes a new concept of information system for CAD, that is called ''Design Warehouse'', because it is inspired from the model of ''Data Warehouse'' defined by W. H. Inmon. This new concept is the result of an operational application made with an object-oriented database in an industrial context, the spatial one. On the other hand we present the application BAGHERA that has inspired this concept, and that replies to need of conservation of the know-how of an enterprise. BAGHERA realizes the storage and organisation of all the data produced during design phase of a satellite and facilitates navigation into this database with fitting methods and tools. The assessment of the object-oriented database O-2 that is the delta storage management of BAGHERA is detailed at the end of this paper, as well as problems of research that are raised by this new kind of application.
