TAFE-university co-operation

The Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering degree, and its associated transfer courses in agricultural, electrical, mechanical and microelectronic engineering, at the Gold Coast Campus of Griffith University was established in co-operation with the Gold Coast Institute of TAFE (GCIT). This co-operation takes two forms. Some teaching of the university degree subjects has been contracted to GCIT. In addition a planned articulation has been put into place for GCIT students completing the two year Advanced Diploma in Engineering (Civil). These students are given credit for the equivalent of one year towards the Civil Engineering degree. A special programme has been structured for these students so that they can complete their degree in three full-time years. The cooperative teaching arrangements are described as well as the credit on transfer arrangements. Planned future arrangements are also discussed. The performance of the articulating students as a cohort is discussed.
