Posttraumatic stress disorder

Posttraumatic stress disorder is a much debated diagnosis. Recent topics of discussion are differences in the current classification system, DSM-IV-TR and ICD-10, and their consequences for clinical practice. Further disputed topics concern the adequacy of diagnostic criteria for children and adolescents and it proposed new diagnosis related to chronic and severe childhood trauma. The current status of psychopathological models explaining symptoms as well as developmental issues is introduced. and finally the discrepancy between empirical evidence in psychotherapy research and clinical practice is described,
