Practical applications of sound quality engineering

A product's sound quality is as important as its look and feel in conveying an image to the customer. Matching the sound quality to the desired product image increases customer satisfaction. Sound quality engineering can achieve this match. The engineering techniques reviewed in this article include high-fidelity binaural digital recordings, digital modifications to these recordings, noise simulations, subjective panel assessments, objective analysis and predictive indexes. The application of these techniques to a range of automotive engineering problems is described.
