摘要
The IETF has introduced the Integrated Services model and Differentiated Services model to provide end-to-end quality of service for Internet applications. For the accuracy of the IntServ and the scalability of the DiffServ, the two service models can complement each other in many respects and can coexist for a long time. RSVP, a signal protocol that creates flow-specific reservation state in routers, is a component of the QoS extensions to not only IntServ but also DiffServ. Most of the specifications for "gluing" the IntServ and DiffServ and RSVP together are not standardized as yet, therefore an important challenge for router venders is to design a RSVP-capable router that can support mixed services models at a flexible manner. In this paper, we present the design of an experimental RSVP-Capable router that can provide transport of integrated traffic of the GS, the PS, the AS and the BE (best effort) services. On the data plane, we implement a traffic control block combined by the MF classifier, the BA classifier, the WFQ scheduler and RIO dropper. On the control plane, we implement the RSVP daemon and a DiffServ management agent that translates the SLA to local resource allocations. The traffic control database is the final result that we apply to process packets forwarding by our router. At last we present the test results to demonstrate that our router can indeed provide flexible and reliable support for multiple QoS services.
