Strength properties of sugi (Cryptomeria japonica) grown in Akita prefecture .2. Mechanical properties of lumber

Laminae for glulams from three stands of sugi (Cryptomeria japonica) reported in a previous paper(1)) were tested for mechanical properties including bending strength. The aim of this paper is to report on an examination of variations in various mechanic al properties of sugi grown in Akita Prefecture. Variation in MOE decreased when lumber was classified by stands or by trees, although the rate of decrease for lumber was less than that for logs. Variations within logs were almost the same as within trees. The gradient of regression line between the MOE and MOR of sugi lumber was not very small as reported elsewhere.(6,7))
