摘要
In this paper a pulse shape analysis method developed for the GALLEX solar neutrino experiment is described. It is generally applicable to low background experiments which use proportional counter detectors in conjunction with high resolution pulse shape recording. The method is based on a fit of an analytical expression describing a single or multiple ionisation event to the recorded pulse shape. This approach serves to reveal the microscopic charge deposition structure from the recorded signal. Utilizing this information, suitably parameterized, for event selection allows for high sensitivity background discrimination on an event-by-event basis. Results for different types of events are presented.
