摘要
Static var Compensator (SVC) is widely used in power systems to support voltage by injecting appropriate reactive power into the system. It can also be used to improve the stability and damping of a power system by dynamically controlling its reactive power output. This paper proposes a new control strategy of SVC to improve stability of a simple single machine infinite bus system. The proposed control strategy is derived from the basis of Lyapunov's second method. The stability boundary of the system with the proposed control strategy is also plotted. The effects of various SVC ratings on the system stability and damping are also studied in this paper.
